The article might seem to be a confusing one. As, we are all aware with the term cannabis and hemp, we always thought them to be of the same kind. The drugs kind cannabis and hemp are like inseparable twins. They both are used in the production of herbal products also. They even share the same source- cannabis sativa. They have similar properties for which they are in the same kind of world. But here we present you with some of the key differences in the cannabis and hemp world:
Properties and uses
Cannabis contains about 6-10% of THC and Cannabinoid compounds in it which results in the stoned effect. The marijuana type is the cannabis plant. Cannabis is used in other medicinal purposes and as aromatherapy oils. But hemp is the plant that contains about 2-3% of THC and more amount of Cannabinoid in it. Hence, hemp is mostly used for other purposes like in medicine without leaving the patients stoned. Hemp is used by people to get food, clothes and rope for use.
Growth and cultivation
Both are different in their arenas hence the growing phase and area is different. Cannabis grows over a period of time where the flowering takes place and the flowering buds are produced. The buds are then used to make cannabis oil and other products. Cannabis needs optimum light and care to grow properly. But hemp cultivation requires no flowering phase. They are cultivated to grow into long stalks of hemp. It is mostly cultivated in the outdoors without giving much attention to each and every plant.
